Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah, offers his condolences to the people of Kurdistan on the anniversary of the tragedy of the martyr Halabja, and calls for a vote within the Council of Representatives on the bill to transform Halabja into a governorate.

In a statement of condolence issued by him, on the anniversary of the martyr tragedy of Halabja, which falls today, March 16, 1988, the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, sent, with great pain, sincere condolences and sympathy to the people of Kurdistan and all the original and honorable Iraqis in the world on the occasion of the passing of (36) years since the crime of the buried Baath and the bombing of the city of Halabja with chemical weapons (weapons of mass destruction), which are internationally prohibited, and unfortunately in the face of the silence of the world, which led to the martyrdom of more than (5000) five thousand innocent civilians, most of whom are children, women and the elderly.

– The Deputy Speaker, I remember this heinous crime against humanity and genocide that provoked conscience, and called on the political blocs to agree and vote within the Council of Representatives on the draft law to transform Halabja into a governorate out of loyalty to its sacrificed sons, while His Sovereignty expressed his regret 21 years after the fall of the regime. Successive federal governments did not work to compensate the people of Halabja and equity them and remove the effects of the crime.

Honor and glory for the souls of the martyrs of Halabja and all the martyrs of Iraq who sacrificed their pure blood for freedom and human dignity.
