Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah, discusses with international partners… developing parliamentary work and raising the level of capabilities and skills of the Council’s employees.

 

.. Today, Wednesday, 28/2/2024, the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, received a delegation from the International Partners Foundation, which included: (Mr. Ken Macntosh, former Speaker of the Scottish Parliament, Ms. Meg Moon, former Minister for Women and Equality in the United Kingdom Mrs. Eileen Walker served the British Council of Commons for more than 30 years, and Mr. Cardo Hoshyar Fares, Director of the GBG Project in Iraq. During the meeting, issues and topics related to ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination mechanisms in accordance with globally approved strategies were discussed.

– The Deputy Speaker stressed the importance of continuing fruitful cooperation between the legislative institution and international partners, supporting representatives to benefit from parliamentary experiences in countries around the world, developing parliamentary work in terms of oversight and legislation, and empowering Council employees in the associated offices and departments to raise the level of their administrative and technical capabilities and skills.
