Under the patronage of the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, today, Tuesday, 5/9/2023, the works and activities of the Tourism and Investment Conference in Iraqi Kurdistan – Erbil were launched, with a large official presence in the region and officials in the federal government, with the participation of Arab brothers’ delegations and neighboring countries, businessmen, investors, and an elite group of political figures, intellectuals, and those interested in the field of tourism and the economy, the Deputy Speaker delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, and pointed out the positive role of investment in the growth of the economy and the development of the financial market to achieve the requirements of financial stability, and since tourism is one of the national pillars of prosperity and sustainable development, His Sovereignty stressed that investment in itself is one of the most important methods for developing countries, implementing strategic projects and enabling future plans to reach the Openness stage to the region and the world, thus increasing the volume of revenues and providing job opportunities and many jobs.
Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah added in the speech, “The Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the capital, Erbil, are proud of their national, cultural, and intellectual diversity, and the historical and archaeological monuments gave a beautiful facade to civilization here, mixed with the spirit of authenticity and architectural modernity that beautifully reflected the heritage and culture of the people of Kurdistan and their honorable history,” pointing out that Kurdistan has the most beautiful images of the democratic experience, a wide space of freedom, a culture of religious tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among all components.
The Deputy Speaker continued, “The environment in Kurdistan is responsive, investment opportunities are available, and there are many facilities, and support is continuing from the Kurdistan Regional Government, especially the ministerial cabinet of Mr. Masrour Barzani, to provide support to businessmen and investors in order to stimulate the tourism sector and encourage investment in order to enhance the state of prosperity in achieving development and optimal exploitation of energies and natural resources.” On the sidelines of the conference and during the dialogue sessions, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah explained that there is a national vision and an endeavor by the Prime Minister of the Federal Council, Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, in order to provide a safe and stable environment for investment in Iraq, this is achieved with the support of the political process parties and all state institutions.
