The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, received today, Sunday 13/8/2023, in his official office in Baghdad, Mr. Hadi Al-Amiri, Chairman of the Government Committee for Article 140, and during the meeting, they discussed topics and issues related to the tasks and work of the committee, addressing problems and obstacles, and the necessity the implementation of the provisions of Article 140 of the Constitution,

while His Sovereignty chaired the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Article 140 and hosted Mr. Al-Amiri and the file of compensation and financial allocations from the Federal Budget Law was discussed, and the payment of dues to the deportees and those affected by the policies of the defunct regime and the demographic change that affected the governorates (Kirkuk – Diyala – Salah al-Din – Mosul) and a number of regions in the center and south of Iraq.

 

🔸 The Deputy Speaker stressed the need to address the problems and remove the obstacles facing the work of the governmental committee for Article 140 with the legislation and laws in force,

the land file must be settled and the rights returned to their legal owners in the disputed areas, the army’s interventions against the farmers must be stopped, and Land compensation for those covered by Article 140, while His Sovereignty and the deputies listened to Mr. Al-Amiri’s conversation about the work of the government committee about compensation and the demand to cancel the decisions of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council and the Northern Affairs Committee, preparing a detailed report on the issue of compensation and the committee’s vision in finding solutions to problems and addressing obstacles.
