Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah, chairs the meeting of the Parliamentary Security, Defense, and Legal Committees, and stresses the need to intensify the work of the committees to implement laws and include them on the agenda.
Today, Monday 17/7/2023, the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, chaired the meeting of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, in the presence of the chairman and members of the committee. A number of laws were discussed, the most important of which are: (The Information Crimes Draft Law, the Police Commissioners Institute draft law, The draft law of the National Intelligence Service, and the draft law of security companies), while His ٍSovereignty chaired over the meeting of the Parliamentary Legal Committee in the presence of the chairman and members of the committee, issues related to the daily work of the committees were discussed with the beginning of the new legislative term and a package of laws, including: (The draft law of the first amendment to the law of seizure and confiscation of movable and immovable funds, the Second Amendment Law to the Personal Liability Insurance Law for State Department and Public Sector Employees Law, the Legal Aid Bill, the First Amendment Bill to the Medals and insignia Law).
During his speech at the meeting of the parliamentary committees, the Deputy Speaker stressed the need to continue efforts and intensify the work of the committees at this stage to complete the laws in accordance with the legislative contexts and procedures and include them on the agenda in the upcoming sessions, pointing to the importance of the deputy’s continued performance of his legal and oversight duties and responsibilities within the legislative institution.
