Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah, on the 35th anniversary of the tragedy of the martyr Halabja, calls on the federal government to invest in transforming Halabja into a governorate and to provide justice to its people financially and morally.

 

In a statement of condolence issued by him, on the anniversary of the tragedy of the martyred Halabja, which falls today, March 16, 1988, the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, condoles the great pain of the people of Kurdistan and all the original and honorable Iraqis in the world on the occasion of the passage of (35) years On the heinous crime against humanity and genocide that provoked conscience to this day.

🔹 The Deputy Speaker of the Council stated in the statement, “Every year on this day, we remember with deep pain the tragedy of the martyr Halabja when the buried Baath and the chemical criminal Ali bombed the city of Halabja with chemical weapons (weapons of mass destruction), which are internationally prohibited and unfortunately in front of the silence of the world, and led to the martyrdom of more than ( 5000) Five thousand innocent civilians, most of whom are children, women and the elderly. This heinous crime will remain a stain on the forehead of the dictatorial and tyrannical regimes that ruled Iraq with iron and fire for decades that passed, His Sovereignty called on the federal government to invest in the decision to transfer Halabja to a governorate and to provide fairness to its people financially and morally because it is a moral and patriotic duty, and to secure a decent life for them, remove the effects of crime, develop the governorate and provide the best services.

Exaltation and sublimity to the souls of the martyrs of the tragedy of Halabja, and to all the martyrs of Iraq who sacrificed their blood for the sake of dignity and freedom.
