Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah calls on the Minister of Transport to stop work at Kirkuk Airport due to suspicions of corruption, security problems and technical and administrative obstacles

 

 

In a statement issued by him, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, demanded today, Monday 17/10/2022, the Minister of Transport in the Federal Government to stop work at Kirkuk Airport due to the suspicions of corruption that were raised about the project and the presence of security problems and technical and administrative obstacles.

his Sovereignty held the Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry of Transport and the concerned authorities responsible for opening Kirkuk Airport so quickly, without taking into account the verification of corruption files and addressing technical problems.

 

The deputy Speaker of the council stressed the importance of the Kirkuk airport project, which was supposed to precede other governorates in establishing it as a right and entitlement for the people of the governorate, In addition to its economic and financial benefits and the job opportunities it provides and supports the economy and trade movement in Kirkuk, He added, “We support the implementation of strategic projects, but unfortunately there are suspicions of corruption surrounding the details of the project, In case that precautionary and security measures are taken, corruption files are resolved and problems are addressed, it is possible to restart work at Kirkuk Airport again.”
