*The Presidency of the Council of Representatives holds its first meeting after the election of the President, discusses the progress of the Council’s work and the inclusion of the most important laws on the agenda*.

The Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives held its first deliberative meeting yesterday evening, Wednesday, days after the election of Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani as Speaker of the Council. At the beginning, the two Deputy speakers, Mr. Mohsen Al-Mandalawi and Dr. Shakhawan Abdullah, congratulated the President and expressed their wishes for him success and guidance in performing his constitutional duties and responsibilities.

A number of files and topics related to the progress of the Council’s work were discussed, as well as the importance of continuing efforts and cooperation with the heads of political blocs and parliamentary committees to proceed with legislation and include important laws on the agendas in the upcoming sessions, which would enhance stability, support construction and reconstruction, and provide basic services to citizens throughout the country.
