Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives Dr. Shakhawan Abdullah congratulates the success of the elections in the Kurdistan Region, and stresses that the wide participation of the region’s citizens is evidence of their keenness to protect the democratic foundations and their political awareness

In a congratulatory statement issued this evening, Sunday 20/10/2024, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives Dr. Shakhawan Abdullah Ahmed proudly congratulated the people of Kurdistan on the success of the Kurdistan Parliament elections, noting that the high rate of wide participation of the region’s citizens in the democratic process and choosing their representatives through the ballot boxes and with complete freedom is evidence of their keenness to protect the democratic foundations and constitutional gains, adding “The will of the peoples is the basis of authority and government, and today they have proven, in front of the world and the international community, their affiliation, political awareness, respect for human rights principles, and support for freedoms.”

The Deputy Speaker highly appreciated the efforts made by the Presidency and Government of the Kurdistan Region, the Independent High Electoral Commission, international observers and supporting bodies, and congratulated the citizens of the region on this occasion, stressing the importance of continuing efforts and joint work between the Kurdish forces and the winning lists in cooperation to form a new government as a constitutional entitlement to achieve sustainable development, implement strategic projects, provide the best services and meet the aspirations and ambitions of the people of Kurdistan for stability and prosperity.
