Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah, calls on the political blocs to take a solidarity stand in approving the law creating Halabja Governorate, in honor and justice to its people who have made great sacrifices.

In a statement issued today, Tuesday, 19/9/2023, the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, called on the political blocs in the Council to take a solidarity, humanitarian, and national stand to approve the draft law creating the Halabja Governorate in the Republic of Iraq, which was on the session’s agenda, His Sovereignty added, “We hope that ladies and gentlemen deputies will vote on the draft law in honor and justice for the people of the martyr Halabja who made great sacrifices and were subjected to the ugliest types of crimes and genocide at the hands of the chauvinist Baath and the bombing of innocent civilians with internationally prohibited chemical weapons during the time of the defunct dictatorial regime.”
