Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah, discusses with the political blocs in the Council… the issue of the salaries of the region’s employees and the draft law to create Halabja Governorate.

With the aim of continuing coordination and cooperation between the Kurdistan political forces and the national forces to address the problems and resolve the issues, the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, visited today, Thursday, 14/9/2023, the Kurdish blocs in the Council of Representatives: (the Kurdistan Democratic Bloc, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Kurdistan Islamic Union), Then he visited with the heads and representatives of the Kurdistan blocs to the other blocs: (State of Law, Badr Bloc, Sanad Bloc, and Al-Sadiqoun Parliamentary Bloc), and His Sovereignty discussed with the political blocs a number of files and issues, the most important of which is the issue of the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees and their non-disbursement for three months by the federal government, in addition to discussing the draft law for the creation of Halabja Governorate, which is on the agenda.
The Deputy Speaker, during his direct conversation with the political blocs, stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and solidarity between the blocs and political forces, finding solutions to the issue of Kurdistan Region employees’ salaries, and releasing financial dues in the Federal Budget Law, similar to the rest of Iraq’s employees, which stipulated the necessity of monthly funding for all employees of state departments and all governorates, while he praised the position of representatives from the various blocs for their solidarity with the issue of the salaries of employees of the region. On the other hand, His Sovereignty called on the political blocs to support and vote on the draft law creating the Halabja Governorate in the Republic of Iraq for the next session, in appreciation to the sons of the martyr Halabja for the great sacrifices they made and the city was subjected to the most heinous crimes against humanity and genocide during the time of the former regime.
