Al-Halboosi chairs the consultative meeting of the Arab Group

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi chaired on Thursday the consultative meeting of the Arab Group of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is being held on the sidelines of the seventeenth session of the Conference of the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

 

The presidency of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union has been transferred to Iraq, and the Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi has been assigned as president of the Union, beginning from the ninth of January.

 

His Excellency stressed that the consultative meeting is held to continue the path of cooperation and coordination between Arab parliaments and legislative councils based on the importance of joint Arab parliamentary work in regional and international forums, and the constant endeavor to develop unified visions on various issues related to current developments, in a way that contributes to overcoming the challenges facing the region and the world.

 

“Our meeting today comes to discuss unifying positions and viewpoints regarding the issues on the agenda of the seventeenth session of the Conference of the Councils of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,” he added.

 

He pointed out that “our Arab region and the world as a whole is going through a delicate phase in which it is witnessing huge challenges and unprecedented crises, which requires everyone to join hands and join efforts among us, based on the responsibility that peoples have assigned to our parliaments.”

 

During the meeting, they discussed coordination to fill vacancies in committees and bodies associated with the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
