In the presence of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, a large number of heads of parliaments and delegations of member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, and representatives of international organizations, Today, Thursday, June 30, 2022, the Iraqi parliamentary delegation, headed by Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, participated in the launching ceremony of the Baku General Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the International Non-Aligned Movement. after welcoming the delegations, speeches were made, most of which emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of national parliaments in consolidating the principles of tolerance, peace, and sustainable development.

On the sidelines of the activities and events of the Baku Conference, the Iraqi delegation conducted a series of side meetings with the participating delegations: (the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, the heads of delegations – Belarus, Morocco, and the UAE). Iraq stressed the importance of investing the opportunity in this international forum to re-evaluate the situation in the region and the world and exert more efforts and international cooperation to draw appropriate strategies in order to confront crises and challenges that have become concerning and threaten the future of people.
