Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah receives the American ambassador in Baghdad, and discusses with him ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries and support the political process to form the new government.
The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Dr. Shahkhwan Abdullah Ahmed, received in his private office in Baghdad today, Tuesday 1/3/2022, the American ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Matthew Tueller.
During the meeting, they discussed topics and issues of common interest, foremost among which are ways to enhance cooperation, develop bilateral relations and efforts to enhance security and stability, supporting the political process to form the new government, as well as discussing the political crisis and the decisions of the Federal Court against the oil and gas law in the Kurdistan Region and its negative impact and damage on the lives of citizens in the region.
The Deputy Speaker demanded the need to continue supporting the United States of America and the friends countries to confront security and health challenges, Respect for the sovereignty of Iraq and the importance of a positive role in resolving problems and disputes, including the necessity of implementing Article 140 of the Constitution and resolving the outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil through dialogue and negotiation in accordance with constitutional contexts and out of the national interest.
For his part, Matthew Tueller expressed his happiness with this meeting to discuss important files and issues, developments in the situation and events in the political arena, his country’s keenness to support Iraq and the security and military coordination between the two countries, And the importance of continuing dialogue and understandings between the region and the center to resolve disputes, expand the volume of cooperation and joint work and enable them to face challenges and overcome crises in a manner that enhances stability and prosperity in Iraq.
